Our Location and the River
From Auckland way....
It is easy to find us. Once you arrive in Taupo, follow the main road around Lake Taupo, called Lake Terrace, as if you are leaving town (if you need supermarket supplies, it might be easier to call in and get those first). Once you leave town, the same road turns back into State Highway 1. Five minutes out of town you will come across the airport sign. Another five minutes down the road and you will come into a 70kph area, this is the beginning of the Waitahanui township. Go another minute down the road and you will go over a small bridge, where men are normally fly fishing. We are approximately 500 metres on the left hand side once you go over the bridge. You will see a big black and white sign with our Fisherman on it. When you arrive you will need to turn left into Hurae Road as our Reception is situated on the corner. Just park in the motel driveway and come into the dairy, which is also the reception area, and we will check you in. Hope this makes sense!
From Wellington way.....
To find us driving north there are a few landmarks to look for. Once you arrive in Turangi, we are approximately another thirty minutes drive on State Highway 1. Just keep following the road to Taupo around Lake Taupo going through the little townships of Motuoapa and Motutere. Once you start driving through Hatepe, you are approximately ten minutes away. You will start going into a forestry area and you will also start climbing up a hill. Once you come back down the hill, you will come into a 70kph area, this is the beginning of our Waitahanui township. We are approximately a minute up the road from that sign, on the right hand side. You will see the local cemetery (on the left), we are exactly opposite it. You will also see a big black and white sign with our Fisherman on it. You will need to turn right in Hurae Road as we are on the corner of State Highway 1 and Hurae Road. Then you will see our Reception driveway, just park in there and come into our dairy which is also our reception area and we will check you in. We hope this all makes sense too.
