The most asked questions (and they are not silly ones because someone is just dying to know):

Q: What is in a Self-Contained Cabin?

A: Everything including the kitchen sink! We have all you need to make yourself comfortable and enjoy your stay.

Q: What do we get in a Backpacker Cabin?

A: A single bunk bed (4 in a cabin plus a fridge/table/chairs). For the tariff, you supply your sleeping gear but you can use the Park Shower Block and the Camp Kitchen. The Park facilities are shared so you must look after them!

Q: What is a Tourist Cabin?

A: The Tourist is an 'upmarket' Backpacker Cabin and has a queen bed, Fridge, Table/Chairs, and is carpeted. Linen is supplied (except towels). Much more comfy for the romantics! Camp Showers/Kitchen available for you to use.

Q: Why can't we camp in winter?

A: To be fair, some folks are prepared but the majority aren't. The ground temperature goes sub-zero consistently and frosts are the norm over the winter months. We would much prefer to have you housed in a Backpacker Cabin to avoid that (very) early morning wake-up distress call by you.

Q: Can we fish?

A: Can you fish? Yes! Our guests have access to our rods and waders...the Dairy has tackle and most things you will need to start fly-fishing (including the compulsory Taupo Licence). We can organise a Guide for you and make sure you enjoy the experience.

Q: Can we bring a group?

A: This is we step up! We love groups and can house up to 35 in our self-containeds and extra elsewhere. The Park Kitchen can be used for catering, our Whare for meetings, we can organise adventure activities, and plain just have a good time without any pressure!

Q: How far to town?

A: It is just a ten minute drive but, in the interests of public safety and your well-being, if you wish to 'play up', we can drop you in town and you can organise a taxi (local company is next door) to get home.

Q: Can we get to the Alpine Crossing from your Lodge?

A: Not a problem...there are 2 ways.

One: You drive there and back (about 40 mins there).

Two: You get picked up from the Gate and dropped back in the afternoon (for a fee). That saves the stress of weariness and CRAMPS on the way back. When you get back in the summer you can pop down to the Lake for a cool, soothing swim followed by a hot shower.

Which one do you pick?
