Testimonials from our guests and friends.......
The facilities are great and really good value for money. The owners, Richard and Sandy, are fantastic people, very helpful and hospitable. The fishing advice and flies, etc. proved invaluable and were spot on. The on-site shop is well-stocked with a wide variety of essentials. Fishing tackle, including waders, are available for hire upon request. We had a brilliant time and cannot recommend it highly enough. We cannot wait to visit again. If you are in Taupo, this is the place to stay.......Ian and Nicole Phillips (UK)
"From the moment I began to plan our trip from Perth Western Australia to New Zealand, Richard and Sandy were a fantastic help. Emails gave suggestions as to what tackle was needed and contact was maintained right up to our arrival. These people are great hosts and our stay at the Windsor was made all that better by their hospitality and continual efforts to accommodate our every need. Richard has an array of fishing gear for hire and has a large selection of fly's and tackle at bargain prices. He also has good knowledge of the fishing scene and can suggest locations and guides if needed. There is good fishing just a few meters away from the Lodge in a beautiful pristine river. The Windsor has its own history as well with one of the oldest buildings in the region on its property. Forget your 5 star hotels this place has something better - Richard and Sandy. I would not hesitate to stay again and look forward to stopping there again on our next trip to NZ. Thanks again Richard and Sandy we all had a great time and hope to see you again in the near future. Jim, Greer, Neal and Joneen – Perth Western Australia."
Richard and Sandy are great hosts. We arrived super late at dusk but were personally shown our site by Richard and issued a fishing licence, advised on the best flies and within minutes we were set. The site is small and intimate, a welcome change from some of the big sites we had experienced on our travels around NZ. Richard showed me some of the best places to fish and lent me some waders which helped alot. When I eventually caught a trout, our hosts were really great in helping us cook it on the bbq and thus ended a wonderful short stay. The facilities such as showers, kitchen etc are some of the best we experienced in NZ. The onsite shop is an Alladin's cave and has all you need and more but the difference is the real personal friendly one on one attitude of Richard and Sandy. We will be back
All the best

"When we decided to stop at the Windsor Lodge to rest our heads we had no idea that we would meet an awesome trio that would make such an amazing impact on our little journey. Thank you so much for taking care of us and going that extra mile. I have felt more like family than a guest and for that there is no real way to thank you. When I'm back in the North Island you'll be sure to have a visitor! If you come to Perth you have a friend waiting."

"Our stay at Windsor has turned out to be our best 'stop' on our adventures! You've all made us feel incredibly welcome and really have helped organise and shape our trip. Much like Matt, when I'm back out this way I'll be sure to pay a visit for a few days! Maybe Daryl can teach me to fish (or not). All the very best at everything"

We stayed at the Windsor lodge in Taupo and we can not stop talking about the great service we got. From the minute we arrived Sandy was giving us advice on what we can do where it is and prices. We probably went to ask her about places 4000 times and everytime (with a big smile on her face) she gave us a map and gladly explained everything we wanted to know. I would highly recomend staying there if you visit Taupo. Not only do they have high standard facilities but their service makes your trip and stay so much more enjoyable and memorable. Thanks guys for making our trip the most amazing trip ever.
